Muscle and joint pain
Musculoskeletal disorders causing muscle and joint pain are civilization diseases, the incidence of which is high in Hungary; 15–20% of the population can be diagnosed with one them.
Pain is characteristic of locomotor diseases, which is one of the major symptoms of inflammation along with the presence of swollen, warm red lesions. In addition to diurnal and/or nocturnal pain, symptoms of mobility disorders significantly impair the quality of life of the patients.
Both drug and non-drug treatments can help the recovery. During drug treatment, analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs form the basis of the therapy. The following aspects should be considered when choosing the adequate non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory (NSAID) therapy: the efficacy to be achieved, the duration of the therapy (whether it is an acute or a chronic disease), the medical history of the patient concerning particular allergies and previous gastrointestinal diseases, the evaluation of the risks of cardiovascular and gastrointestinal disorders, the integrity of renal and hepatic functions, and the medications taken by the patient. From these aspects, safety should be highlighted, since in the more than 100 years of NSAID application, side effects have become more widely known besides the therapeutic effects.
Sager Pharma offers treatment for both acute and chronic pain in the form of topically and orally (per os) administered products. Due to lower serum concentration, the risks of cardiovascular and gastrointestinal side effects are lower in case of topically applied anti-inflammatory and analgesic patches.
The technology of local analgesic and anti-inflammatory patches distributed by Sager Pharma provides prolonged absorption time and local application for the purpose of increased efficacy and tolerability.
In case of orally administered NSAID products, optimal therapeutic effect/side effect ratio can be achieved, which is a favourable therapeutic option in the alleviation of musculoskeletal pain and inflammation.
